Kane Ferdinand Joins The Cobblers On Loan
Northampton Town boss Aidy Boothroyd has signed midfielder Kane Ferdinand on a month-long loan deal from Peterborough United.
The 21-year-old made 32 outings in the Championship for Posh last season, 15 of which were starts, having arrived from Southend, where he came through the youth system. However, Ferdinand has struggled to make an impact for the high-flying League One outfit this season, failing to make a single appearance.
Boothroyd is happy to have brought him to Sixfields, “Kane is a very attack-minded player who can play anywhere in midfield. “He’s someone we’ve been watching for a while and he will bring more energy to the midfield.” said Boothroyd. Ferdinand will also be able to feature in Northampton’s FA Cup first-round tie against non-league Bishop’s Stortford next week.
Kane Ferdinand who is the cousin of fellow professional footballers, Rio and Anton Ferdinand, and former English footballer Les Ferdinand, signed for Peterborough United on a four-year deal for an initial fee of £200,000 on 31 August 2012. He made his debut in a 5–2 away defeat to Burnley and has represented the Republic of Ireland at U18, U19 and U21 levels.
